  1. I think that many people believe in superstitions. It wouldn't be truth if I said that I don't believe in them. I don't freak out when for example black cat cross the road in front of me, but I'm more careful. People in my country believe that:
    - if someone break the mirror, He/she will have seven years of bad luck (I'm careful with mirrors)
    - walking under the ladder brings bad luck
    - having horseshoe hanging over the door (like "U" letter) brings good luck ( I don't believe in this)
    - on Friday, 13th something bad may happen (Usually I'm very careful that day)
I think people believe in superstitions because they can't understand some strange events or just because this is kind of tradition.

  2. I don't really belive in superstitions, but sometimes I catch myself acting like a crazy person doing completely unreasonable things. For example I never put my purse on the floor, because there is a belief that you can lose all money. Another stupid thing is wearing red underwear when I want to pass an exam.It is also quite popular to kick those who enter examination rooms and to blow one's fingers for luck.
In Poland people belive in many superstitions. It is believed that if the first person to enter a house on a Christmas Eve is a woman, it is a bad omen, black cat crossing your path is bad luck too. Greeting your guest at the door or over the threshold brings unhappiness.
I think people belive in superstitions becouse they don't want to tempt fate and for fun, of course.

  3. I try not to belie in superstitions. I don’t want to make myself crazy to remember all the things. One of many superstitions is when you have a small baby; you should tie a red ribbon to dispel charm. Another polish superstition is that a bride shouldn’t wear open shoes because happiness is going to escape through the holes. Next is about a handbag. You can’t put it on the floor because you will not have money. In polish culture we have many superstitions, but I don’t pay attention to remember all of them. Well…. I really do not care to put my purse on the chair or I didn’t tie the ribbon on my child. Also, I wore open toed shoes on my wedding. Although I am not a rich person, I am always short of money. My kid was really tearful. So, maybe I should follow all superstitions?
